Choosing A Happy Hour Mainstay For Your Office

Attending a happy hour with coworkers is a great way to wind down from a long day and get to know one another socially. A lot of offices have a go-to spot where they gather for happy hour once a week or once a month. But how do you go about selecting a go-to spot? Here are some tips.

Keep it close to work.

Some of your coworkers might live further from work than others. People probably live in all different directions, so if you choose a restaurant 10 minutes from the office, some employees may actually be driving further from home to get there, making their drive back to the house in the evening even longer. This may deter some people from attending the happy hour. So make sure the restaurant you choose is within a couple of minutes of the office so you're not making anyone drive further. If it's within walking distance, that's even better!

Look for an open space.

Some weeks, you might have three people attend happy hour. Other weeks, you might have 20 people attend. To ensure people do not feel too cramped, you want to look for a restaurant with plenty of room around the bar. A bar area with a few high-top tables is better than one with just a single, straight bar. Plenty of standing room, perhaps on a patio, is also good.

Check for food specials.

If you're meeting after work, most people are going to want to grab a bite to eat with their drinks. However, they're not going to want to spend an arm and a leg on dinner. A good happy hour restaurant will have some affordable small plate or appetizer options. They might offer a few key dishes for $8 during happy hour, half-priced appetizers, or something like that.

Friendly staff.

After a long day at work, you're going to want to relax and wind down. A good staff makes this easier. They engage with you, are attentive to your needs, laugh with you, and so forth. Look for a restaurant where the bar is well-staffed so the bartenders are not too busy to serve you well, and also for a place that tends to hire friendly staff.

Attending a happy hour once a week or once a month is a good way to help the office become closer with each other. Follow the tips above to find a go-to spot where you can all have a good time.

Attending a happy hour at restaurants or bars like The 5 Point Cafe is a great way to make this team building experience much less expensive for your employees.
